Happy New Years! January 12-13

Happy New Years! I know the greeting has gotten as old as the Christmas tree still in your living room, but I'm back from vacation and ready to start the new year. In addition to posting market happenings I will start to highlight some local weekend entertainment. If you have an event you want posted or just want to say Hello! please leave a comment.

One of the longest running antiques shows in the country the Washington Antiques Show features forty-five premier dealers from the United States and Europe. The theme of this year's event is Inspirations from the Garden. The garden theme is celebrated in furniture, paintings, prints, folk art, textiles, instruments, clocks, ceramics, pottery, and more. The show is in memory of Lady Bird Johnson and will benefit Thrift Shop Charities.

9:00 am: "Teddy Bear" Concerts. Ages 3 and up. Children and their stuffed friends can choose a story and listen to NSO violinists Glenn Donnellan and his wife Jan Chong bring it to life. Location: Levine School of Music 2nd Floor Recital Hall

10:00 am: Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, a project of the Women’s Committee for the National Symphony Orchestra.
Location: THEARC Theater Lobby, Boys & Girls Club Game Room, and Corcoran ArtReach Studios

1:00 pm: NSO family Concert. Emil de Cou will conduct works by Tchaikovsky and Bizet, and featuring the dancers of the Washington Ballet at the THEARC Theatre. Program also includes projected images created by students from the Corcoran Artreach Program.

2:15 pm: Kids Chat. A post-concert discussion with the NSO
